Our Mini-Facelift: The Langsdon DayLift
The DayLift is an innovative mini facelift technique designed to improve sagging cheeks and jowls. This mini procedure can remove years from your appearance in a single sitting. This unique procedure delivers a natural-appearing outcome with less bruising and swelling than a traditional full facelift.
General anesthesia is not necessary, and most patients return to light activities in a week or possibly a little longer depending on the extent of the work needed and each patient’s tendancy to swell and bruise. When minimally invasive surgery is sufficient, the Langsdon DayLift may be right for you.

Mini Facelift vs. Traditional Facelift
Although mini facelift results can be all that some patients with early facial relaxation may need, the DayLift doesn’t produce the results of a traditional facelift. It will not remove asymmetries, wrinkles, stop the aging process, or remove excessive sagging or improve the neck. Dr. Langsdon developed the DayLift for patients who need only minimal improvement of the cheeks and jowls.
See If You’re a Candidate
At our Memphis-based clinic, board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Philip Langsdon will suggest which facelift surgery is best suited for you. With his extensive training and experience focusing on facial anatomy, plastic, and reconstructive surgery, and cosmetic improvement, he will assess your facial condition to determine if you are a candidate for our DayLift procedure. If you exhibit significant skin laxity, sagging, and volume loss, he may suggest a deep plane facelift or other procedures which will deliver the best results.
Our version of a mini facelift is an excellent procedure for patients who require mild to moderate skin tightening and who do not have significant neck skin laxity. The DayLift requires a short incision and a short downtime. With our DayLift, Dr. Langsdon addresses the jawline and cheeks to add youthful-looking fullness and reduce sagging skin (jowls). Typically, this mini facelift procedure is optimal for our younger patients who have yet to experience significant volume loss and loose skin.

Where Your Minimally Invasive Lower Facelift Will be Performed
Dr. Langsdon performs both traditional facelifts and the DayLift at a state-licensed outpatient surgical facility. Although many surgeons perform the mini-lift surgery as an office-based procedure, we use a licensed facility which meets state and federal requirements to ensure the safety of our patients. This optimal care is not always available in an office-space setting where construction does not meet surgical or anesthesiological standards as prescribed by the department of health.
Anesthesia
A board-certified anesthesiologist or licensed nurse anesthetist will administer monitored sedation while the surgeon applies local anesthesia. This makes the DayLift pleasant during and after the procedure. All patients are fully monitored and most state that they remember little if any of the entire day.
Minimally Invasive Treatment
The DayLift requires a shorter incision, compared to a full facelift, to provide the necessary correction. After sedation, Dr. Langsdon will create a discreet incision around the ears, exposing the SMAS (Submuscular Aponeurotic System). The SMAS connects to the platysma muscle, which covers the neck and lower third of the face. He then secures the SMAS and removes excess skin. He does this with an incision that is sometimes 50% shorter than the traditional facelift.
This amazing cosmetic surgery produces remarkable results for the right patient candidate.

Dr. Langsdon’s career has been limited and focused entirely on Facial Plastic Surgery and he has dedicated himself to the pursuit of excellence in his field.
A Quick and Easy Recovery
The recovery process after a DayLift mini face lift procedure is minimal compared to a full facelift. You will wear a light dressing the night of surgery and replace it on the following day. On the third day after surgery, you will be able to shower and wash your hair. After one week, we will remove sutures and assess your healing process. Although bruising is common, it should subside considerably after one week. Some patients may retain more bruising and swelling than others and may require more time for things to subside.
The initial healing process is approximately one to two weeks. Firmness, numbness, residual swelling and bruising, redness of the incisions may last many months.
Minimally Invasive Facelift – Maximum Results
The best characterization of the DayLift is smaller, shorter, and fewer incisions depending on how much needs to be done. To achieve these results, Dr. Langsdon focuses only on the cheek and neck area; the muscles in these areas have a significant impact on your entire facial appearance. By elevating the cheek muscles, which are connected to the neck muscles, Dr. Langsdon creates a repositioned support structure.
Because gravity plays a big part in how our facial skin reacts to the aging process, the DayLift addresses the lower third of the face. Minimizing neck bands requires an additional procedure under the chin.

Memphis Mini Facelift FAQ's
The DayLift is an excellent option for anyone who is unwilling or unable to commit to the recovery time that can accompany a more invasive surgery. A DayLift could also be an ideal procedure for younger patients whose skin is still relatively elastic and who are experiencing a less pronounced degree of aging.
If you have extensive skin sagging around your chin, neck, and jawline, or if you’re experiencing significant volume loss in your mid- and lower face, you might be better suited for a mid-facelift or even a full facelift. During an in-person consultation, Dr. Langsdon can evaluate you and ask you questions about your aesthetic goals to determine the best treatment approach for you.
Various factors affect the final cost of your DayLift procedure. Because Dr. Langsdon customizes treatments for each patient, we will give you a more accurate estimate when you come in for your consultation.
Yes! We offer several options that can complement and enhance the results of your one-day facelift. For instance, if you have prominent dark circles under your eyes, non-surgical fillers injected precisely into your tear troughs can help plump this hollow area and make your lower eyelids look younger. Botox® Cosmetic can erase wrinkles and fine lines such as brow furrows, “11 lines,” and crow’s feet. And lip injections can do wonders to add sexy volume and contour to your mouth.

A mini facelift focuses on the lower part of the face and involves smaller incisions, typically around the ears. It addresses less severe signs of aging compared to a traditional facelift, which involves more extensive surgery and can target the mid-face and neck.
A mini facelift usually takes about 2 to 3 hours to perform, depending on the extent of the surgery and individual patient needs.
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks involved. Potential side effects of a mini facelift include swelling, bruising, infection, scarring, and temporary numbness. Dr. Langsdon will discuss these risks with you during your consultation.
The results of a mini facelift can last several years, but this varies depending on factors such as skin type, age, and lifestyle. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and skincare routine can help prolong the effects.
The incisions made during a mini facelift are typically small and strategically placed around the ears, making any scars less noticeable. Over time, scars usually fade and become less visible.
